Comprehensive Gifted Resources & Organizations
The National Research Center on Gifted and Talented (NRC/GT) successfully
competed for a
series
of
federally funded grants (1990-2013) under the Jacob K. Javits Gifted and Talented
Education Act.
The
research that we have conducted for over 2 decades required the cooperation and
collaboration of
administrators, teachers, and students from all over the country. We gratefully
acknowledge the
role
that each person played in providing us with opportunities to collect extensive data on
critical
topics
and report the findings to multiple audiences. We hope you share our research with other
interested
educators involved with gifted and talented education by visiting our website.

Resources for Physics
Resources for all levels—from early elementary explorers to advanced researchers. Whether you are building a cardboard boat in a bathtub or calculating quantum state teleportation, these tools will help you navigate the laws of the universe.
1. Interactive Simulations (All Ages)
Simulations allow you to manipulate reality. These are the best "virtual labs" where you can test theories without breaking any equipment.
- PhET Interactive Simulations : The gold standard. Hosted by CU Boulder, it offers sims for everything from basic "Balloons and Static Electricity" (Elementary) to "Quantum Tunneling" (Advanced).
- oPhysics : Best for middle and high schoolers. It uses GeoGebra to visualize classical mechanics, waves, and optics.
- Gizmos (ExploreLearning) : High-quality, inquiry-based labs designed for grades 3–12. Excellent for classroom teachers.
- Physics is Beautiful : A gamified learning platform that feels like "Duolingo for Physics," moving from basic vectors to advanced mechanics.
2. Elementary & Early Learners (Ages 5–11)
At this level, physics is about wonder and hands-on "play."
Interactive Worlds
- NASA Space Place: Games and activities that explain gravity, light, and planetary motion using simple, mission-based gameplay.
- Mystery Science: Open-and-go lessons that answer kid-centric questions like "Could a mountain turn into a volcano?"
- Kid Science: A play-based platform that uses storytelling to guide young children through scientific discovery.
Hands-on & DIY
- Science Bob: Famous for easy-to-follow, high-impact experiments like "The Egg Drop" and "Balloon Hovercrafts."
- Dyson Foundation Challenge Cards: 44 engineering and physics challenges (like building a spaghetti bridge) designed by Dyson engineers for kids.
- Science Buddies: A massive database of projects filterable by "Elementary" or "Physics" to help with science fair ideas.
3. High School, College, & Self-Study
For those needing structured curriculum, exam prep, or deep-dive reference materials.
- The Physics Classroom: The best "first stop" for high schoolers. It offers structured tutorials, "Concept Builders," and a calculator pad for practice.
